Today I was teaching a first year class and asked some warm-up questions to review grammar. One of the questions I asked was "Do you like American movies?" A male student, who is probably 12, said yes, so I asked him what American movies he liked. His reply: Natural Born Killers. Later I heard him talking about Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill, and he knew who I was talking about when I mentioned Quentin Tarantino's name. I know I was out of the pop culture loop until high school, but is it normal for twelve year olds to watch movies like that?
